When to bring these sheets out
These sheets have a lot of sky and a lot of water — that is, two very large surfaces to fill. It is exactly what an afternoon that is too hot calls for: a child keeps going for a long time without having to be precise even once.
They travel well. Printed the night before leaving and slipped into a folder with four markers, they last an hour on the road. The boat and the mill color just as well on a camping table as on a lap.
At the end of August they make a good transition: out they come one last time, then it is on to the school sheets. Changing shelf says vacation is over better than a sentence does.
