A game of ball
In a backyard, a boy in a cap runs up to kick a soccer ball. A girl with pigtails runs toward the ball too, arms out in front, and the little unicorn trots along beside them, delighted to play.
A garden in bloom
The yard is closed in by a wooden fence. Bushes, flowers, tulips and clovers grow all around, and three butterflies flutter overhead. In the sky, a smiling sun shines between two clouds.
Clean shapes
The two children and the unicorn are nice shapes, easy to color at four. The ball is made of hexagons, which can be colored black every other one. The fence is a row of boards to color one after another.
Backyard colors
The fence can be white or wood-colored, the grass green, the flowers every color. The boy’s cap and the girl’s dress take bright colors. The sun is yellow, and the ball black and white, or your child’s favorite color.
A word for the grown-up: in the yard or at the park, pass the ball back and forth with your child, pushing it with the inside of the foot instead of kicking with the toe. Start up close, and count how many passes in a row you can make.
