A builder at the beach

Sitting on the sand, big glasses on its nose, the unicorn holds a shovel and adds sand to the base of its castle. It smiles, pleased with its work. A little star decorates its shoulder.

A three-tower castle

The sandcastle has three towers, each with its flag, windows and a door. Next to it, a bucket full of sand is waiting. An ice cream cone with a cherry is planted in the sand, near a starfish, and a seashell lies a little farther away. Behind, the sea makes waves, under a smiling sun and a few clouds.

Nice shapes

The unicorn and the castle are big shapes, easy to color at four. The round piles of sand get colored in a single stroke. The glasses, the flags and the cherry on the ice cream are smaller.

Sand and water colors

The castle and the sand take a golden beige, a little darker where the sand is wet. The sea is blue or turquoise, the bucket and shovel a bright color. The flags can be red, and the unicorn’s glasses pink.

A word for the grown-up: at the beach, show your child the secret of nice straight towers: a bucket filled with wet sand, packed down firmly by hand, then flipped over in one quick move and lifted off very gently. With dry sand, the tower falls apart.
