Up and over!

A girl with pigtails leaps into the air, arms stretched out in front, to jump over the little unicorn. She wears a dress with a pocket, tied with a big bow at the back, and she grins from ear to ear.

A helpful unicorn

The winged unicorn has crouched down to make the jump easier. It wears a flower necklace, and a star decorates its hindquarters. All around, the garden is in bloom, with a fence, a watering can, a mushroom, stepping stones in the grass and butterflies, under a smiling cloud and a smiling sun.

The game of leapfrog

In French, leapfrog is called “saut de mouton,” the sheep’s jump: one player crouches down, and the other jumps over, pushing off their back. Here, the unicorn is the one crouching. The girl and the unicorn are big shapes, easy to color at four, and the flowers in the garden get colored with the tip of the pencil.

A summer garden

The dress can be red, yellow or blue, with a bow in another color. The unicorn’s wings can stay white or take a very soft pink. The sun is yellow, the watering can green or red, and the flowers every color.

A word for the grown-up: play leapfrog. Curl up on your knees, forehead toward the floor and back nicely rounded: your child puts their hands on your back and goes over, legs apart. At four, they practice first on a big cushion, then leap over you, laughing.
