A gentle pat
Sitting on a flowered blanket, a girl with braids tied with bows reaches out to stroke the unicorn’s cheek. She wears a jumper dress with a pocket over a blouse with a round collar, and she smiles from ear to ear. The little unicorn, standing beside her, enjoys it with a delighted look.
A well-stocked basket
Next to her, a picnic hamper stands open. Inside, a basket holds a bunch of grapes, an apple and a baguette, with a napkin. The sun shines between two clouds, butterflies flutter by, and the blanket is spread among the flowers and clovers.
Two big characters
The girl and the unicorn are big shapes, easy to color at four. The blanket is decorated with little flowers: color them in a bright color on a light background. The clovers and the flowers in the grass get colored with the tip of the pencil.
Cheerful colors
The girl’s dress can be blue or pink, her bows red. The blanket takes a soft yellow or a pale green, the hamper the brown of wicker. The grapes are purple or green, the apple red, the baguette golden.
A word for the grown-up: at the end of a picnic, walk around the blanket with your child to pick up wrappers, peels and bottle caps. We leave the grass as clean as we found it. At four, they love checking that nothing is left behind, like a little park ranger.
