Resting on the beach
Stretched out on a striped beach chair, the unicorn rests in the shade of a beach umbrella. It wears big glasses and a flower in its curly mane, and smiles, its hooves crossed over its tummy.
A sun in sunglasses
Across from it, the sun is shining with sunglasses on its nose too, and it is smiling. On the sand are a beach ball, a sandcastle with its flag, a bucket, a shovel, a starfish and a seashell. An ice cream cone with a cherry is planted at the water’s edge.
Round shapes
The unicorn and the beach chair are big shapes, easy to color at four. The stripes on the beach chair get colored every other one. The beach ball is made of sections, each in its own color.
The evening sky
For a sunset, the sun can turn orange, and the sky around it can take on pink and purple. The sea reflects those colors. The beach chair can have stripes in two bright colors, and the ball every color.
A word for the grown-up: on a summer evening, sit outside and watch the sun go down. Your child names the colors of the sky as they change: yellow, orange, pink, then purple. Afterward, they can color the page with those same colors.
