A picnic under the rainbow

The little unicorn sits on a checkered blanket, eyes closed with delight and a big smile on its face. A ruffled collar circles its neck. Next to it, a bunny with long ears is smiling too, sitting right by the basket.

A basket to share

In the wicker basket, there are strawberries, an apple, grapes and a sandwich. A little chick comes trotting over to join them. Above, a rainbow rests on two clouds, under branches of cherry blossoms, and a smiling sun shines nearby. Tulips, flowers, clovers and two butterflies complete the meadow.

Big shapes

The unicorn, the bunny and the basket are big shapes, easy to color at four. Color every other square on the blanket. The blossoms on the branches are small: color them with the tip of the pencil, or leave them white.

Spring colors

The cherry blossoms take a soft pink, the tulips red or yellow. The strawberries are red with their green leaves, and the chick yellow. The rainbow keeps its colors in order, from red to violet.

A word for the grown-up: in spring, pick strawberries with your child, in the garden or at a pick-your-own farm. Choose the bright red ones, and leave the white ones to ripen a little longer. At four, they fill their basket proudly, and eat every other one.
