Lunch in the shade

Under a big leafy tree, the unicorn sits on a checkered blanket, a star in its mane. It smiles at its friend, a big-eyed ladybug sitting beside it. The ladybug has two antennae, each tipped with a little ball, and a shell covered with spots.

Everything for a treat

On the blanket, there is plenty to enjoy: a basket of apples, a glass of juice with a straw, a cookie, a sandwich and a bunch of grapes. A few tufts of grass grow at the foot of the tree, whose roots reach into the ground.

Big shapes

The unicorn, the ladybug and the tree are big shapes, easy to color at four. The leaves form one big area, to fill with green. The grapes and the ladybug’s spots get colored one by one.

Red with black spots

The ladybug takes its bright red, with black spots. The squares of the blanket can alternate two colors, and the tree trunk takes a dark brown. The juice can be orange, the grapes purple, and the unicorn keeps a white coat with a yellow star.

A word for the grown-up: for a picnic or a snack, make ladybugs you can eat. On a small cracker, place half a cherry tomato, rounded side up, half a black olive for the head and a few little bits of olive for the spots. At four, your child can put them together on their own.
