Spring babies
In the middle of a flowery meadow, a little unicorn sits, all round, with flowers tucked into its curly mane and a star by its horn. Its big eyes sparkle and it is laughing. Three friends surround it: a bunny with long floppy ears sitting on the left, a lamb lying in front, and a chick on the right, raising a wing to say hello. Above them, a rainbow links two clouds.
Rain and sun
Under the two clouds, drops are still falling: a spring shower is ending, and the rainbow announces the sun’s return. The butterflies are already out, the tulips and flowering branches stand tall again, and little hearts float in the air. The page is about renewal: baby animals, flowers, light after the rain.
Big, soft shapes
The characters have round, simple shapes, just right for a four-year-old’s hand: the unicorn, the bunny, the curly lamb and the chick fill up easily. The meadow flowers are smaller and more numerous, each with a round center. The rainbow, for its part, is made of narrow bands: a good exercise for anyone who wants to take their time.
Pastel colors
This page calls for the soft colors of spring: a pale pink for the unicorn, a gentle yellow for the chick, a light gray or beige for the bunny. The lamb can keep the white of the paper; the curls of its wool already draw it. The raindrops get colored blue, one by one, and the flowers in every bright color.
A word for the grown-up: on a sunny day, set a glass of water on a windowsill in full sun, or water the garden with your back to the sun: a small rainbow often appears on the wall or in the drops. Your child sees what they just colored come to life.
