A princess at a gallop

A little princess has climbed onto the unicorn’s back, with no saddle, and gallops along waving. She wears a crown, two pigtails tied with ribbons, a puff-sleeved dress with a heart on it, and little boots. The unicorn, all round, has a curly mane and a spiral tail. Around them float flowers, hearts and stars.

A happy wave

With one hand, the princess waves to someone we can’t see: maybe the child coloring the page. It is a simple, cheerful page about the friendship between a little girl and her mount.

An easy page to start with

The drawing has few elements and thick outlines: the unicorn, the princess and a few small shapes around them. It is a good page for a four-year-old who wants to finish without getting tired of it. The unicorn offers one big round area; the princess’s dress, a few smaller ones.

A pastel unicorn

The unicorn can take a pale pink or lilac, with a mane in several colors. The princess’s dress calls for a bold color, and her crown for golden yellow. The flowers, hearts and stars around them are a chance to try every color in the box, one per shape.

A word for the grown-up: sit your child on your knees and play horsey while chanting “Trot, trot to Boston”: walk, trot, then gallop. They find in the game the princess’s ride from the picture.
