The unicorn’s bath time

The unicorn sits in a big tub full of foam, its little wings open, eyes closed with pleasure. A girl with pigtails tied with ribbons scrubs its back with a sponge, and a boy in overalls pours water over it from a cup. They are both laughing.

Everything you need

A rubber duck floats in the foam. A bar of soap sits on the edge of the tub, a bath pouf hangs from its cord, and a towel waits, draped over the rim. Bubbles of every size float up above the scene.

A page for six-year-olds

The two children, with their clothes, hair and hands, have lots of little spaces, and so does the foam with its many bubbles: the page suits children six and up. The tub at the bottom is a big simple area, to color first.

Water and soap colors

The tub can be blue or pink, the towel striped, the duck yellow with an orange bill. The foam and bubbles stay white, or take a pale blue shimmer. The unicorn’s wings can be gold or pearly.

A word for the grown-up: at six, put your child in charge of washing their bath toys: a tub of warm soapy water, an old toothbrush for the nooks, a rinse, then everything dries upside down on a towel. They will take it as seriously as the children in the picture.
