Sitting among the pumpkins
The little unicorn sits among the pumpkins, nice and warm in a thick patterned knit sweater with a turned-down collar. Its curly mane frames its face, its eyes sparkle, and it smiles with its mouth open, as if it has just counted its harvest.
A neatly stacked harvest
The pumpkins are piled up on each side of it. Two of them, in front, have faces: the one on the left is carved into a jack-o’-lantern, with triangle eyes and teeth, and the one on the right is laughing with its eyes closed. In the middle, a woven basket holds three little pumpkins. Maple and oak leaves, acorns and a sprig of berries fall all around.
A page for six-year-olds
With its many pumpkins, its leaves and its patterned sweater, this page has lots of spaces: it suits children six and up. You can color each pumpkin rib by rib, one lighter band, one darker band, to make it look round.
All the colors of fall
The pumpkins take every shade of orange, and their stems green or brown. The maple leaves go from yellow to red, and the acorns are brown with a darker cap. The sweater can be brick red or pine green, with lighter patterns, and the basket straw-colored.
A word for the grown-up: at the farmers market, let your six-year-old make a small purchase on their own: pick out three apples or a pumpkin, say hello, ask the price and pay with the coins you gave them. Stay a couple of steps away, without stepping in.
