A basket full of flowers
The unicorn walks along cheerfully, carrying a big wicker basket full of flowers, with tulips poking out. A flower decorates its curly mane, and a little bow is tied to its tail. It smiles, with rosy cheeks.
Spring babies
On the left, a bunny with long floppy ears sits in the grass. On the right, a curly lamb is resting, and a chick toddles along in front of it. Above, a rainbow rests on two clouds that let a few drops fall, and branches of cherry blossoms frame the page. A ladybug, a mushroom and two butterflies complete the meadow.
Round shapes
The unicorn, the basket and the three animals are big round shapes, easy to color at four. The flowers in the basket are packed close together: give them two or three colors that take turns. The little blossoms on the branches get colored with the tip of the pencil.
Spring colors
The pink of the cherry blossoms, the soft green of the grass and the yellow of the chick make you think of spring right away. The bunny can be gray or light brown, and the lamb stays white or cream. The rainbow keeps its colors in order, from red to violet.
A word for the grown-up: play mothers and babies. You say “ewe,” your child answers “lamb”; “hen,” “chick”; “doe,” “kit.” New words like ewe or foal are quickly learned when they become a game.
