The unicorn’s lantern

In a wooden crib, a baby sleeps, wearing a nightcap covered in moons and stars, under a matching blanket. Standing next to the crib, the unicorn holds a star-shaped lantern and watches over the baby with a smile.

A room full of night

Above the crib, a drape decorated with moons and stars hangs like a canopy, and a curtain is tied back to one side. Stars hang from the ceiling. In the sky, a crescent moon is sleeping too. At the foot of the crib, a blanket lies folded, and a little bunny has fallen asleep on the floor.

A page for six-year-olds

The crib slats, the folds of the drape, the curls of the mane and the many moon and star patterns make a detailed page: it suits children six and up. You can color the crib first, then the unicorn, and save the patterns for last.

Colors of sleep

The crib can be light wood, the drape and blanket pale blue with yellow stars. The lantern takes a golden yellow, as if it were lighting up the room. The moon is yellow, and the little bunny white or gray.

A word for the grown-up: make a star lantern: your child glues tissue-paper stars onto an empty glass jar, and you slip a small battery-powered candle inside. In the evening, set by the bed, it casts its colored light.
