Baby goes to sleep
In a crib, a baby sleeps peacefully, a starry nightcap on its head and its cheek on the pillow. It is tucked under a patchwork quilt decorated with moons, stars and hearts. Above the crib, a mobile of a moon and stars turns.
One, two, three sheep
Sitting beside the crib, the unicorn, with stars and moons in its mane, raises a hoof to count the sheep. Six woolly sheep leap across the night sky, their eyes half closed. A sleepy moon, starry clouds and little stars watch over the baby’s sleep.
A page for six-year-olds
The sheep’s curls, the squares of the quilt and the bars of the crib make a rich page: it suits children from six. Color the sheep one by one, and count them out loud while coloring. The crib bars all take the same color.
Sleepy colors
The sheep stay white or take a very soft cream, with gray legs and faces. The sky can be midnight blue, the moon pale yellow. Each square of the quilt can have its own soft color: pink, sky blue, sea green, pale yellow.
A word for the grown-up: at night, in bed, suggest your child count sheep very quietly, picturing each one jumping over a fence. At six, they can count high: slow your voice down with each sheep, and let their eyes close before the end.
