What this age asks of a sheet

At this age a child fills — they don’t color yet. So they need big areas, not many of them, and no consequence for going over the lines. A successful sheet at 2 is one where the sky, the grass and the path each take a single sweep of the arm: the rest can stay white, and the page is still lovely. These are the sheets with a single big subject on a white page — a rabbit, a boat, a ladybug — and no scenery around it to slow them down.

Pages for this age

Each sheet opens on its own page: the drawing in full, and the A4 PDF.

A word for the grown-up

Don’t ask them to finish. Leave the sheet on the table: they’ll come back to it on their own, two or three times through the day.
