Doors wide open
The unicorn princess’s wardrobe has opened both its doors. On the crest at the top, a crowned unicorn head smiles among stars and flowers, above the words “UNICORN PRINCESS CLOSET.” Three ball gowns with puffed sleeves, dotted with hearts and polka dots, hang on the rod. Below, everything is in its place: a pair of shoes with bows, a handbag, a crown, a star wand, a pile of folded clothes with a striped scarf, a hat and a little pouch.
A curious little one
At the bottom left, a little unicorn peeks around the edge of the wardrobe, a crown on its flowery curls, looking delighted. It has probably come to choose today’s outfit. That is the whole game of the page: opening a wardrobe full of treasures and wondering what you would wear to the ball.
A place for everything
The drawing is very orderly: the dresses on top, the accessories on the shelf, and three drawers at the bottom, marked with a heart, a star and a flower. That order makes it easy to color in steps, one row after another. The doors are decorated too: on the left, a big star and a bow; on the right, polka dots under a tied ribbon. At four, the dresses are the most enjoyable areas to fill.
Matching colors
Each dress can get its own color, then the accessories can match: pink shoes for the pink dress, a blue bag for the blue dress. The crown and the wand call for golden yellow, the wardrobe itself for light wood or cream white. The buttons on the floor, at the bottom right, are one last little touch of color.
A word for the grown-up: in the morning, let your child choose between two outfits you have laid out, like the little unicorn at its wardrobe. They learn to make a choice, and getting dressed becomes a game rather than a race.
