Higher!
Standing on her hind legs, the mother unicorn pushes the swing with her two front hooves. She wears a flower crown, flowers in her mane and a flower necklace, and smiles with her eyes closed. On the swing, her little one, with a bow in its mane, holds on to the ropes and laughs.
Under the big tree
The swing hangs from a thick branch of a tree with blossoming leaves. Leaves come twirling down, three butterflies flutter by, and four spotted mushrooms grow at the foot of the trunk. In the grass there are flowers and a clover; two clouds drift across the sky.
A big tree to color
The trunk and the leaves fill the left side and the whole top of the picture: big areas, easy to color at four. The two unicorns are simple shapes. The flowers of the crowns and the mushrooms are smaller, to do with the tip of the pencil.
A spring day
The leaves take a soft green, with their blossoms in pink or white, and the trunk a warm brown. The mushrooms can be red with white spots. The swing is wooden, its ropes beige, and the mom’s flowers pick up the colors of the tree.
A word for the grown-up: at the park, teach your child to swing on their own: legs straight as the swing goes forward, legs tucked under the seat as it goes back. At four, it often takes several tries, but the day it works, they fly off without waiting for a push.
