All bundled up

Standing under a big umbrella, the little unicorn holds it by its curved handle. It wears a knit sweater, a scarf wrapped around its neck and rain boots. Its cheeks are rosy and it smiles, its curly tail behind it.

Fall leaves

All around, fall leaves are coming down: maple leaves and longer ones, swirling in the wind. The umbrella itself is decorated with leaves. On the ground, four pumpkins, two big and two small, surround the unicorn, among a few acorns and fallen leaves.

A roomy page

The unicorn, the umbrella and the pumpkins are big shapes, easy to color at four. The falling leaves are many and small: give them three fall colors that take turns, one leaf in three.

Fall colors

The leaves take red, orange, yellow and brown. The pumpkins are orange, with a green or brown stem. The umbrella can be a bright color, red or yellow, to cheer up the gray day, with boots to match.

A word for the grown-up: make rain with your body. First, rub your hands together: that’s the drizzle. Then tap your fingers on the table, and your hands on your thighs: here comes the downpour. Stomp your feet for the storm, then do it all in reverse until it’s quiet again. Your child copies you, one move at a time.
