Off through the woods

The unicorn is hitched to a wooden cart with a star painted on its side and a big spoked wheel. It trots along, mane flying, harness across its chest. In the cart, a boy in a star cap holds the reins, and a girl with pigtails laughs beside him. The forest rolls by around them.

A forest to explore

The path runs through woods full of surprises: big spotted mushrooms, ferns, two pine cones, falling leaves, butterflies. Between the trees, a few stars are already twinkling. Where are they going? The picture doesn’t say, and it is up to the child to imagine how the ride ends.

Three clear layers

The unicorn and the cart make one big shape in the middle of the sheet, easy to spot. Behind, the trees and bushes form the background; in front, ferns, flowers and pine cones line the path. At four, you can start with the unicorn and the cart, then move on to the scenery if you feel like it.

Wood, leaves and mushrooms

The cart gets colored brown, its wheel a darker shade. The mushroom caps are red with white spots, the ferns green, the pine cones brown. Among all these forest tones, the unicorn stands out if you give it a light color and a bright mane.

A word for the grown-up: on a walk in the woods, bring a little basket and gather pine cones, leaves and acorns together. Back home, your child can store them in a box, like a cartload.
