Two friends in sweaters
The unicorn sits in the grass, nice and warm in a patterned knit sweater. Its horn has a little pom-pom on top, like a pointy knit hat. Next to it, a little hedgehog is wearing a knit sweater too. They hold hands and both smile.
The woods in fall
Around them, spotted mushrooms of every size grow in the grass, two pumpkins sit on the ground, and acorns lie here and there. Maple, oak and fern leaves fall on every side.
Sweaters to color
The unicorn is a big shape, easy to color at four. The hedgehog’s spines are many: you can color them in a single stroke, in brown. The knit sweaters get colored in one color, or in stripes.
Woodland colors
The sweaters can match, red or mustard. The mushrooms are red with white spots, the pumpkins orange. The hedgehog has brown spines and a lighter snout, and the leaves go through every fall color.
A word for the grown-up: if you have a yard, leave a pile of dead leaves and twigs in a corner: that is where a hedgehog could spend the winter. Your child helps build it, and learns that a slightly messy yard is a home for animals.
