Asleep by the water
At the edge of a round pool, the unicorn has lain down in the grass and fallen asleep, eyes closed, with a little smile. A bird has snuggled up against it, under its chin; it is asleep too. Stars shine in its mane and tail.
The garden at night
Behind them, in the middle of the pool, water spouts from a basin set on a stone pillar, with ivy climbing up it. A crescent moon has risen, and a few stars are coming out. Leafy branches hang down on either side, and flowers and mushrooms grow around the pool. Everything is calm: the garden is asleep.
Stones and water
The edge of the pool is made of big stones, each one clearly outlined: they can be colored one by one. The water covers a large area, rippled with little waves. The unicorn and the bird, in the front on the left, are nice simple shapes, well within reach of a four-year-old’s hand.
An evening palette
To keep the evening mood, the water takes a deep blue, the stones a bluish gray, the moon a pale yellow. The unicorn can stay light, so it stands out, with golden stars in its mane. The bird can be blue or yellow.
A word for the grown-up: at bedtime, when your child is snuggled up like the bird against the unicorn, ask them to name three good moments from their day. This little ritual is soothing and ends the day on a gentle note.
