Curled up in a ball

On a big fluffy cloud, the unicorn has curled up in a ball and is fast asleep, its head resting against the edge. Three little flowers decorate its curly mane, and its frizzy tail looks like a little cloud itself. Above it, a few “Z”s drift up into the air: it is dreaming.

The moon is sleeping too

In the sky, a crescent moon has closed its eyes and smiles, asleep as well. Stars and little dots shine all around. Everyone is asleep and nothing moves: this is an end-of-the-day page, all softness.

A big cloud in the middle

The cloud is the biggest shape on the page, with nicely rounded edges: at four, it can be colored with broad strokes. The unicorn lying on it is a simple shape. The tall format leaves the whole top half to the sky, with the moon and the stars.

The colors of night

The cloud can stay white, or take a very pale pink or lilac, like a cloud at sunset. The moon gets colored yellow, and so do the stars. For a real night sky, the background takes a dark blue, going around the stars.

A word for the grown-up: at bedtime, place a stuffed animal on your child’s tummy as they lie down, and ask them to make it rise and fall by breathing slowly, like the sleeping unicorn. Three or four breaths are enough to calm the body before lights out.
