A flower-shaped balloon
The balloon is shaped like a big flower: a round center surrounded by eight petals. Some are dotted with little specks or little dashes, and two have leaves drawn on them. Twisted ropes connect it to a woven wicker basket.
Two travelers
In the basket, the unicorn, wearing a crown of flowers, smiles next to its friend the ladybug, round as a ball, its two antennae standing up. The unicorn’s tail hangs over the side. Clouds and hearts float all around them, and a few flowers and stars fall below the basket.
The balloon first
The center of the flower and its petals are big areas, easy to color at four: the balloon fills almost the whole top of the page. The basket, with its weave, takes more patience. The unicorn and the ladybug are small: you color them with the tip of the pencil.
A flower of every color
The petals can all be the same color, like a real daisy, or each one its own, for a rainbow balloon. The center of the flower takes yellow. The ladybug is red with black spots, the basket straw-colored, and the hearts around it pink.
A word for the grown-up: show your child that hot air rises, just like in a hot-air balloon. Hold a little strip of tissue paper yourself above a warm radiator: it lifts and flutters all on its own.
