Two superheroes

The unicorn and the ladybug have put masks over their eyes and capes knotted around their necks. They fly side by side across the sky, the unicorn mid-leap, the ladybug beating its see-through wings. Lines show how fast they are zooming along.

A mission in the sky

Around them are stars, sparkles and three little clouds. Nobody knows where they are going, but they look determined and happy: surely they are off to help someone. Everyone can make up the rest of the story.

Two capes in the wind

The two characters fill the whole width of the page, with their capes streaming behind them. At four, these are big shapes, easy to color. The masks are smaller: color them by going around the eyes.

Hero colors

The capes call for bright colors: red, blue, purple. The masks can match the capes, or be another color. The ladybug keeps its black spots on red, and the stars get colored yellow.

A word for the grown-up: cut a superhero mask out of cardboard with your child, with two eyeholes and an elastic band. They decorate it themselves; all that is left is to pick a superpower, and at four, ideas are never in short supply.
