All in the same nest

In a big nest of twigs on the ground, the little unicorn sleeps, legs folded in front of it. Stars shine in its mane. Next to it, a big owl is asleep too, eyes closed, and its owlet has snuggled up at the edge of the nest.

The forest at night

All around the nest, the forest has fallen asleep: tall trees, fir trees and bushes. A crescent moon shines between two clouds, with a few stars, and six fireflies flutter by, their little wings in motion. At the foot of the nest grow two mushrooms, leaves and grass.

Big soft shapes

The unicorn, the owl and its owlet are big round shapes, easy to color at four. There are lots of twigs in the nest: color them all the same brown, without lingering on each one. The leaves caught in the nest get colored green, one by one.

Evening colors

The night sky can stay white, or take a deep blue, with a pale yellow moon. The owl is brown or gray, its owlet a little lighter. The fireflies light up with a dot of bright yellow, and the unicorn keeps a white coat, with golden stars in its mane.

A word for the grown-up: roll a blanket into a ring at the bottom of a basket or a box, and make a nest for your child’s stuffed animals together. Every night, they tuck their friends in before going to bed themselves, saying good night to each one. This little ritual helps them go from playtime to sleep.
