A very happy donkey
A little donkey leaps across the meadow, eyes crinkled with joy and mouth wide open with laughter. A little bell hangs from its collar, and its tail ends in a small tuft of hair.
No more boo-boos
Beside it, the unicorn is jumping too, its mane full of stars. On the ground, they have left behind a bandage, a medicine bottle and a thermometer: the little donkey is all better, and it’s celebrating with its friend. Stars, hearts, flowers and two clouds surround the scene.
Big shapes
The donkey and the unicorn are big shapes, easy to color at four. The bandage, the bottle and the thermometer are small, but simple. The stars and hearts get colored with the tip of the pencil.
A gray donkey
The donkey takes a soft gray, with the tip of its muzzle and the inside of its ears lighter. Its bell is golden. The unicorn keeps a white coat, with yellow stars in its mane, and the grass takes a soft green.
A word for the grown-up: the French nursery song “Mon âne, mon âne” (“My donkey, my donkey”) tells of a donkey with a headache, then an earache, then sore eyes, and in each verse a lady has a gift made to help it feel better: a bonnet, earrings, glasses. Make up your own verses with your child, ending with one where the donkey is all better and jumps for joy.
