Singing while coloring

Where “Au clair de la lune” comes from, and how it is sung.

By the light of the moon, with their candle gone out, someone knocks at Pierrot’s door to borrow his pen; Pierrot, already in bed, sends them next door. The song has a special place in history: in 1860, a French inventor, Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville, recorded a few bars of it on soot-blackened paper, long before the phonograph. It is one of the oldest recorded voices known. It is sung slowly, like a lullaby.
