In front of the mirror

The little unicorn has sat down at her dressing table, in front of a big round mirror trimmed with a garland of bows and stars. She wears a starry bow tie and ribbons in her curly mane. On the dressing table, everything is ready: two lipsticks, a cup of brushes, a compact, little jars, an eyeshadow palette and a bottle of nail polish with a bow.

Getting all dressed up

The unicorn is getting ready, as if for a party. Next to the dressing table wait a big lipstick standing on the floor, a hat with a bow and a handbag. She smiles from ear to ear, her big eyes sparkling. It is a game many children know: copying the grown-ups in front of the mirror.

A dressing table full of details

The dressing table is the center of the page: its three drawers, decorated with stars and hearts, and all the little objects on top. At four, you can start with the big shapes, the mirror and the unicorn, then color the objects one by one. The stars and hearts scattered all around come last.

Party colors

The lipsticks call for pink and red, striped as in the picture. The mirror frame can be golden, with pink bows. The dressing table gets colored cream white or pale pink, and the unicorn keeps her colors for the mane, with bright ribbons.

A word for the grown-up: play the mirror game with your child, face to face: one makes a face or a gesture, the other copies it exactly. There is lots of laughing, and you learn to observe closely.
