An evening under the stars

Three children and the little unicorn have settled on a blanket dotted with moons and stars, in the grass. A curly-haired girl laughs with her eyes closed, a princess in a crown and a starry dress smiles, and a boy sitting cross-legged, a moon on his T-shirt, looks up. Above them, a big full moon smiles, surrounded by clouds and stars, some of which have faces.

Looking at the sky

Staying outside as night falls is a little adventure for a child: the sky changes color, the first stars come out, the moon rises. The four friends in the picture share that moment, and nothing about it is scary. The moon itself looks delighted to have company.

Sky on top, friends below

The tall format splits the page in two: the sky fills the top, with the big round moon, easy to color; the characters and the blanket fill the bottom. At four, the moon and the clouds get colored with wide strokes, and the stars one by one. The patterns on the blanket and the dress are smaller.

A blue and gold night

For a real night, color the sky dark blue around the moon, the clouds and the stars, which you can leave light or color yellow. The blanket can take a softer blue, with its golden moons. The children’s clothes can keep bright colors, as if lit by a flashlight.

A word for the grown-up: on a clear night, lie down outside with your child and look together for the Big Dipper, the seven stars shaped like a saucepan. Once you have found it, you will recognize it every time.
