Halloween craft
The Halloween garland
Three sheets to color, a piece of string, and the house gets ready for Halloween.
The three sheets to print
One big figure alone in the middle of the page: the outline follows in a single run of the scissors. Print each one twice.
Step by step
Ages 3+45 minutes, often over two sessions
Supplies
- The three sheets, each printed twice — on 120 gsm paper if you have it
- Markers or colored pencils
- Round-tipped scissors
- Two meters of string
- Tape
Steps
- Color the six sheets. Only the figures count: the background goes when you cut. The ghost can stay white or turn purple — it’s theirs.
- Cut each figure out, leaving a white border a finger wide all around: it hides the small slips of the scissors.
- For the bat, keep the feet and a short piece of the branch: that is how it hangs from the string, head down, just as in the drawing.
- Tape the string to the back of each figure — pumpkin, ghost, bat, then once more — with a hand’s width between two figures.
- Stretch the garland across a window, over the mantelpiece or across a doorway.
For a Halloween party, print one set per child: each colors their own, and the garland brings them all together.
