Autumn craft

The little squirrel’s magic hiding place

Color the scene and the pieces, cut out the leaf pile, the strip and the squirrel, then glue. Pull the handle: the squirrel hides! Push it back: peekaboo!

The two sheets to print

The big autumn tree and the spot for the leaf pile, then the pile, the pull strip and the little squirrel to cut out.

Step by step

Ages 4+30 minutes

Supplies

  • The two sheets, printed at actual size
  • Colored pencils
  • Round-tipped scissors
  • A glue stick

Steps

  1. Color the scene, the leaf pile, the strip and the squirrel.
  2. Cut out the leaf pile, the strip and the squirrel, with an adult’s help.
  3. Glue the squirrel on the dotted square at the end of the strip.
  4. Put glue on the circles of the first sheet. Lay the strip in its lane, between the dotted lines, handle at the bottom, then press the leaf pile onto the circles, over its outline. No glue on the strip.
  5. Pull the handle: the squirrel hides in the leaves! Push it back: peekaboo!

Print both sheets without scaling: the pile then fits its outline exactly.
